Meet Charles
For more than two decades, Charles Hollowell has dedicated his life to protecting others, leading with integrity, and serving the people of Hamilton County. Now, he's ready to bring that same commitment to the Sheriff's Office.
Charles E. Hollowell, MBA, PMP, is a respected law enforcement executive, business professional, and community leader with more than two decades of public service experience. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public safety, principled leadership, and community partnership, helping support Hamilton County's reputation as one of Indiana's safest and most desirable places to live, work, and raise a family.
Charles combines extensive law enforcement experience with a strong educational foundation. He is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership Academy (PELA) and earned both a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. He also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, reflecting his commitment to excellence in leadership, finance, and organizational management.
Throughout his law enforcement career, Charles has served in key leadership roles, including Public Information Officer and executive oversight of both the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions. He has led critical public safety operations, major investigations, personnel development initiatives, and community engagement efforts while building trust through transparency, accountability, and service. His collaborative leadership style emphasizes servant leadership, innovation, employee development, and building high-performing teams dedicated to protecting the community.
Charles is also an experienced steward of taxpayer resources. He has played a significant role in budget development, financial planning, and fiscal oversight, ensuring public funds are managed responsibly while maintaining high-quality public safety services. As a small business owner, he brings valuable private-sector experience and a practical understanding of the challenges facing local businesses, families, and communities. His dedication to service has earned numerous honors, including Officer of the Year, the Chief's Award, and the Leader's Leader Award.
Guided by his faith and supported by his family, Charles is running for Sheriff because he believes every resident deserves safe neighborhoods, transparent leadership, and a Sheriff's Office that serves with integrity, professionalism, and accountability. A Hamilton County resident for nearly 25 years, Charles and his wife are proud to call this community home, where they are raising their 11-year-old son. They are also blessed with three grown sons, three daughters-in-law, two granddaughters, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first grandson this fall.
When he isn't serving the community, Charles enjoys running, traveling, spending time with family, attending his son's swim meets, and supporting local nonprofits through board service and mentoring. As a small business owner and lifelong public servant, he remains committed to strengthening Hamilton County through principled leadership, responsible stewardship, and a servant's heart.
